About us:
SPCA Tampa Bay was originally founded on July 15, 1940, in St. Petersburg, Florida, as the Animal Welfare League (AWL). At that time Pinellas County’s cities were responsible for managing the stray and homeless dog population. The organization continues to thrive and grow, striving to meet the needs of our community and provide compassionate care to the animals we serve. It’s been an exciting 80+ years and we hope that you have the opportunity to become a part of our story.
